LAS VEGAS (AP) - The new medical school at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, is being named for the late billionaire businessman, investor and MGM Resorts founder Kirk Kerkorian.

Campus and company officials announced the move Friday.

Kerkorian died in 2015 at age 98. He was a pioneering developer of major hotels in Las Vegas, including the MGM Grand. Nevada Health and Bioscience Corp. says the five-story building it is overseeing and funding will be the only building with Kerkorian’s name. Construction began in October and is expected to cost about $150 million before completion in 2022.
