Fire on east Sparks hillside stopped at 10 acres

SPARKS, Nev. (KOLO) -6:20 P.M.: The fire burning east of Vista Boulevard has been halted at 10 acres, the Sparks Fire Department reports.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Crews expect to be on the scene for several hours.

5:55 P.M. UPDATE: One lane of northbound Vista Boulevard is open, the Sparks Police Department reports.

Police still ask people to avoid the area if possible.

5:15 P.M. UPDATE: The Sparks Police Department asked drivers to avoid the area of Vista Boulevard and Los Altos Parkway due to the brush fire.

Northbound Vista Boulevard will be closed at Baring Boulevard due to the fire crews in the area.

No structures are currently threatened, police said.

ORIGINAL STORY: Fire crews are fighting a brush fire along power lines in the area of Vista Boulevard and South Los Altos Parkway in east Sparks.

Several units responded to the fire reported at 4:18 p.m.

There will be several emergency vehicles in the area. Drivers should use caution.

There is a reporter headed to the scene and we will update when we have more information.
