CARSON CITY, Nev. (KOLO) - Students at a Carson City Elementary School have reason to celebrate. The Fritsch Elementary School Archery Team has hit the bullseye. It won the Nevada State Archery Competition for the 2020-2021 season, bringing home the State Title, trophy and honor to Carson City for the first time in program history.

While the competition is typically held in Las Vegas, this year it was executed virtually due to COVID-19. National Archery in the Schools Program representatives were able to observe and judge each team from their respective schools.

One of the students, fifth-grader Amelia Papez, won first place overall out of all female archers in her age group and second place overall out of all female and male archers in her age group. She now qualifies for the National Tournament, which will be held later this spring.
