RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - JAN. 26 UPDATE: The Nevada Highway Patrol has confirmed that a three vehicle crash on January 21, 2021, that left two men dead, involved a fight.

The NHP preliminary investigation found that a car driven by Jaime Ramirez, 37, of Woodland, CA, rear-ended a pickup driven by Jarred Johnson, 30, of Truckee. Both vehicles were traveling westbound on I-80.

The two men got out of their vehicles and were involved in a fight. The report says Ramirez climbed into Johnson’s truck and started driving eastbound in the westbound lanes. While driving away, the front of the pickup hit Johnson.

The NHP says Ramirez then left the pickup and attempted to carjack several vehicles. He then climbed over the guardrail and entered the eastbound I-80 lanes where he was hit by another pickup truck.

Both Johnson and Ramirez were declared dead at the scene. Johnson’s death was ruled a homicide by the Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner. Ramirez’s death has been ruled accidental. Both men died of multiple blunt force injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
