RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - If you are looking for a place to get away from civilization for a bit, this is definitely an option.

“If you are looking for high desert recreation option, Cave Lake is a great place to go,” said Tracie Barnthouse of Travel Nevada.

Located about 15 minutes south of Ely, the park is popular with fisherman, campers, and mountain bikers.

The park has been called a mini version of Great Basin National Park. In addition to camping, its main attraction is Cave Lake itself, though what happens there depends on the season.

“Right now there is ice fishing you can do out there which a lot of people don’t realize,” Barnthouse explained. “There is also stargazing, biking, scenic loops, and so much you can do outside.”

In addition to ice fishing, skating, snowmobiling and cross-country skiing are popular at the park in the winter. And in the summer, the lake is stocked with rainbow trout for those who like to fish.

If you feel like going to camp you can do so for $15 a night.
