Washoe Lake State Park opens drive-thru Trail of Lights
WASHOE VALLEY, Nev. (KOLO) - The magic of Christmas is coming to life in the Washoe Valley. Washoe Lake State Park’s inaugural Trail of Lights kicked off Thursday night, featuring holiday scenes and colorful light displays. The drive-thru festival of lights, which features 24 different displays, allows visitors to enjoy some Christmas cheer safely from their vehicles.
Participants Dan and Diana Patnaude are frequent campers at Washoe Lake State Park, and jumped at the chance to create their own displays for the event.
“It’s really neat because we want to do something for the community during COVID. A lot of people can’t get together with their families so this is something that families can enjoy together safely in the car. So we were happy to help participate with the park,” said Diana Patnaude.
It costs $5 per vehicle to get in to Washoe Lake State Park. The Trail of Lights will be open Friday through Sunday, December 18 - 20, from 5 to 8 p.m. each night.
