FALLON, Nev. (KOLO) -The Churchill County Sheriff’s Office on Friday reported two deaths in the Fallon area. One was a man’s homicide and an apparently unrelated death of a boy in a traffic accident.

The sheriff’s office said it got a 911 call at about 3:30 a.m. on Friday of a man injured on Sprig Lane. When first responders arrived, they found the man dead.

“Due to the type and nature of the injuries, his death has been ruled a homicide and is an open and active investigation,” the sheriff’s office said. His name was not released.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call 775-423-3116 or email Corporal Mike Mathews at mmathews@so.churchill.nv.us.

Just before noon, there was a report that a boy had been hit by a pickup truck near the intersection of Tumbleweed and Rice roads. The sheriff’s office pronounced him dead. His name is also not being released at this time.

The Nevada Highway Patrol is handling the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call 775-423-7946.
