Crews put out brush fire in South Reno

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - The Reno Fire Department extinguished a small brush fire in South Reno.

Firefighters received the call on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at 7:55 p.m. in the grassy area just east of the Verge Apartments off Offenhauser Drive. Two engines and one brush truck responded.

Crews said the flames burned about a quarter of an acre. No structures were damaged and no injuries were reported.

Witnesses told officials on scene they believe it was started by fireworks.

Firefighters are reminding the public that fireworks are illegal in Nevada and especially dangerous during dry weather conditions.
