A very wet windy storm is on its way.
Font Size:

Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday morning will be wet and very windy. This is not a cold storm so the valley floor will NOT see any snow. In fact, even the mountains will see a lot more rain than snow. The Sierra crest could see up to 6" of rain with most of the snow staying above 8500'.

Wind is the biggest concern here in Reno. We could see gusts this evening up to about 50mph. Higher wind gusts can be expected in Washoe Valley. Both the wind and the rain will be heaviest during the late afternoon and evening hours. Typically the wind dies down at night, but we will continue to see gusts close to 30mph through the early morning hours on Wednesday.

By Wednesday afternoon the rain will be much more scattered and the wind will weaken significantly. By Thursday we will be in the clear.
