Hi There-

A strong winter storm will affect our weather through the weekend. Periods of heavy mountain rain and snow will be coupled with strong winds. We're also looking at rain here in the valley floor.

The National Weather Service here in Reno issued a special weather statement for the storm Friday afternoon. Here's what they're advising.

SATURDAY THROUGH SUNDAY...

HEAVY RAIN IS FORECAST FOR THE SIERRA SATURDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH
SUNDAY MORNING. ACCUMULATING SNOW ON SIERRA PASSES ABOVE 8000
FEET IS CERTAIN WITH A FEW INCHES POSSIBLE ON PASSES AS LOW AS
7000 FEET. FOR THE VALLEYS OF WESTERN NEVADA AND EASTERN
CALIFORNIA...THE MOST LIKELY PERIOD FOR PROLONGED RAINFALL WILL
OCCUR SATURDAY NIGHT.

FORECAST RAINFALL AMOUNTS FOR THIS STORM ARE SHOWN BELOW:

SIERRA CREST 2 TO 3 INCHES
SIERRA VALLEYS 1 TO 2 INCHES
U.S. 395 CORRIDOR 1/4 TO 1 INCH
WESTERN NEVADA VALLEYS
NEAR U.S. 95 UP TO 1/4 INCH
