Nevada Wildland Fire Awareness Week

Tuesday's Fire Tip
Thirty-five percent of Nevada wildfires start in dry grasses and weeds. If you are going to be mowing or weed eating dried grass and weeds during the summer months, do it in the early morning. Cutting them in the afternoon increases the chance of an accidental fire start. Always have water and a shovel handy when working outdoors.

Monday's Fire Tip
In 2007, the Angora Fire destroyed 242 homes and was caused by an illegal and improperly extinguished campfire. Put out campfires by using “Drown, Stir, and Feel.” Drown the fire with water, stir it to mix the water and soil, and repeat it until it feels cold.
