CA Storm Makes Ripe Ski Conditions, Snow Dangers

A late winter storm that dumped at least 6 feet of snow in parts of California's Sierra Nevada created ripe conditions Friday for snow sports enthusiasts but also posed risks for back country skiers, one of whom was killed by an avalanche.

A powerful storm system that produced multiple reports of tornadoes lashed the Midwest early Wednesday, roughing up the country music resort city of Branson and laying waste to small towns in Illinois and Kansas. At least 13 people were killed.
