Sudden Snow Closes I-5 in Oregon

A sudden dump of snow in southern Oregon closed a 33-mile section of Interstate 5 on Thursday, stranding untold numbers of motorists.

Overnight Web Weather

Cold again overnight with morning lows in the low twenties on Thursday. A series of storms move into the mountains starting on Friday morning... and continuing through the weekend Saturday and Sunday. Travel will be treacherous in the mountains at times... with several feet of snow falling in the higher elevations. There is also a chance for rain and snow here on the valley floor both Saturday and Sunday.

Clearing and very cold overnight... with many areas falling into the single digits by Wednesday morning. Beyond that, a series of strong storms move into the Sierra starting early Friday morning. Holiday travelers should be prepared for dangerous conditions in the mountains.

Bands of snow developing overnight, early into Tuesday morning. A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for much of Western Nevada through late Tuesday morning. Some clearing and very cold for the middle of the week.

Strong winds overnight. Rain showers early Monday... switching to snow Monday evening. Very cold temps heading into the middle of the week.

Weekend Web Weather

Unsettled weather through the weekend and into early next week. A series of storms will effect the region... with the heavies snow being in the mountains. The best chance to see any measurable snow here in Reno and surrounding areas will be on Tuesday morning.

Thursday Night Web Weather

Teens overnight. Mostly cloudy Friday afternoon with highs in the upper thirties. A slight chance for snow flurries Saturday night here on the valley floor... with a few inches possible in the mountains.

Isolated Snow Showers Still Possible

The vast majority of snow showers will stay in the Sierra today. Isolated snow is still possible in Reno before the sun goes down. Cold weather settles in shortly.
