The solar eruption shot off the east side of the Sun Yesterday. Scientists say the red glowing looped material is plasma. Plasma is hot gas made up of electrically charged hydrogen and helium. Flares occur when the gas become unstable and bursts outward.
The eruption was not pointed towards Earth.
