LOS ANGELES (AP) - Southern California motorists are having a tough morning commute on rainy streets.
The California Highway Patrol reports nearly 200 accidents in the area Thursday morning, including a pre-dawn collision in the San Fernando Valley that killed one person and injured two others.
The CHP says it's unclear whether rain caused a big-rig to crash into a center divider on Interstate 5 in the Glendale area shortly before 2:30 a.m. Concrete debris scattered on the road damaged or blew tires on up to 20 cars.
The freeway was almost entirely shut down for hours but cars are now moving.
A storm has dumped a quarter-inch of rain in LA. Showers will continue through the weekend, with gusty winds in the mountains and high surf at the coast.
