WASHOE COUNTY, Nev. - The National Weather Service is forecasting the potential for moderate flooding in the Pleasant Valley area as a result of the pending rain event expected to take place from late Saturday night through Sunday. The projected potential for flooding includes Pleasant Valley north to the UNR Agriculture Farm area.

Washoe County Regional Animal Services in conjunction with the Washoe County Emergency Operations Center encourages owners of livestock in the Pleasant Valley burn area near the Steamboat Creek to be prepared to evacuate your livestock if needed.

The Reno Livestock Events Center has partnered with Regional Animal Services to assist with the housing of displaced animals. Beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, December 2, 2012, livestock, with the exception of cattle, may be housed at the Livestock Events Center until the rain and wind event has subsided. Animal Services Staff will be on site to assist with housing and care.

If you need your livestock transported, please make arrangements now with your neighbors to be prepared to assist you if necessary.

For further information, contact Washoe County Regional Animal Services Dispatch at (775) 322 – 3647.
