CARSON CITY, Nev. – The Nevada Department of Transportation has some new tools this Winter to help keep you safe on the roads.
New automatic bridge anti-icers have been put on the I-580 bridges between Reno and Carson City. You can see a picture of the device on the right of this page. During inclement weather, these devices will automatically spray the bridges to keep the ice away.
In 2013, a new tow plow will be used to clean the interstates in the area. The tow plow is a second, steerable blade that will be towed behind a traditional snowplow. It allows two lanes of road to be plowed at once. This will save an average of $78 an hour on snow removal costs.
You can stay on top of road conditions by dialing 511 to get details about traffic and road issues.
