RENO, Nev. -- The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) was prepared for this winter storm to hit northern Nevada.
NDOT's Public Information Officer Scott Magruder tells KOLO 8 News Now crews operating snowplows and snow blowers rolled out on mountain roadways at about 8pm Friday and have been operating continuously since then. In the valleys, including the Truckee Meadows, crews headed out at about 4am Saturday to clear snow from roadways.
A total of about 50 snowplows and snow blowers are operating. Magruder says about 100 personnel work in 12 hour shifts, covering all 24 hours in a day, to keep the roadways operational.
