CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - An environmental group says Nevada had at least 61 record breaking weather events in 2012.
A report released Tuesday by Natural Resources Defense Council says Nevada set 36 heat records, 11 snow records and 14 precipitation records.
The report lists Nevada as being in the top 10 of states nationally that had the most weather stations reporting new heat records. Tennessee topped the list with 36 percent. Nevada came in sixth, with 27 percent.
Besides heat and precipitation records, Nevada also experienced 86 large wildfires last year that burned about 680,000 acres or more than 1,000 square miles.
The environmental group is based in New York.
