LAS VEGAS (AP) - Officials are only going to allow Mount Charleston residents to pass on a stretch of southern Nevada highway damaged by intense weekend flooding.

The Nevada Department of Transportation said Monday it could take most of the week to repair a washed-out section of State Route 157 between U.S. 95 and mountain communities in Kyle Canyon.

But crews have one lane open on a damaged stretch of Kyle Canyon Road more than a football field long.

The Nevada Highway Patrol is restricting access, and flaggers are directing traffic through the repair zone.

The road was damaged during flash flooding after intense thunderstorms Sunday afternoon.
