In Washington state heavy rain has raised the water levels on several rivers. Several roads in Kings county are closed an a flood alert has bee issued for areas along the Tolt and Snoqualmie rivers.

Astronomers have clocked the fastest wind ever coming off a black hole. NASA says the wind is moving about 20 million miles per hour or about three percent of the speed of light.

Scientists at NASA have also launched a small rocket into the northern lights over Fairbanks, Alaska. The agency is hoping to discover how the lights can affect signals from satellites and other spacecraft. The rocket reached a height of more than 200 miles.
