SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - Three emergency-response specialists from California are headed to Hawaii to help deal with back-to-back storms.

Two logistical specialists from the California Office of Emergency Services and one member of the California National Guard left for the islands Friday, the same day Tropical Storm Iselle made landfall on Hawaii's Big Island.

OES spokesman Brad Alexander says the responders are part of a 10-person contingent heading to Hawaii under a multistate emergency-response compact.

The two California emergency services personnel, based near Sacramento, specialize in deploying equipment during natural disasters. All three will be deployed for a month, although that could be extended if needed.

A second storm, Hurricane Julio, is more powerful but is forecast to track north of the Hawaiian islands starting Sunday morning.
