Winter Storm Warning in Place Until 7 pm Sunday

The National Weather Service has extended a winter storm warning until 7pm Sunday night for Reno, Tahoe, Carson City, North Valleys, and surrounding areas. Heavy snow is expected.

There will be a break in the snow band later Sunday morning with more snow coming by Sunday evening.

Most major highways have chain and/or snow tire requirements.

A heavy snow storm overnight Saturday recorded 12" at the Reno airport and much more in the outlying areas. Winter driving conditions will be hazardous throughout Sunday with numerous chain and snow tire requirements.

Northern Nevada saw heavy snow Saturday night with about 10 inches on the valley floor and higher amounts in the outlying areas. Snow showers are expected to decrease by noon, and then start up again Sunday night.
