DENIO, Nev. (AP) - “Rehab” is the order of the day on the Nevada side of the Holloway fire. The term is firefighter slang for fixing fences cut for bulldozers and fire engines, as well as moving dirt across raw bulldozer fire lines to slow water.
While the fire grew on Thursday to 462,201 acres, all the growth was up
north, in Oregon.
“We’re not seeing smokes or flames on the Nevada side,” Jack de Golia,
a public information officer in Denio said. “There’s a lot of mopup and
rehab work going on as we wind this down.”
Light rain fell on the far south end of the fire on Thursday morning.
The Bureau of Land Management's Winnemucca District staff will host a
public meeting on Friday, August 17, to provide information on fires in the
area. The meeting will be held from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Comstock
Room of the Winnemucca Convention Center, 50 W Winnemucca Blvd. in
Winnemucca, Nevada.
