*Winter Weather Advisory for the Sierra, including Lake Tahoe, from 7 AM Friday until 4 AM Saturday. More than a foot of snow is possible above 7000', with winter driving conditions and road controls likely at times.
*Winter Storm Warning for the Sierra Crest, from 5 AM Friday until 5 AM Saturday. Snow totals of 1.5 to 2 feet are possible over the crest, with winter travel conditions and controls likely over Sierra passes.
Two systems will impact the area through early next week. The first will bring Sierra snow Friday morning, with snow levels rising from Lake Tahoe Level to above 7000', then back below lake level by Friday evening. In addition to Sierra snow, this system will produce breezy weather, with valley rain showers. Sierra controls are likely at times above 7000'. A second front will move into the region late Sunday and possible cut off into an area of low pressure Monday into early Tuesday. Again, showers are possible with high elevation snow, but amounts are not expected to be significant. Keep the chains handy for possible winter travel over the passes through at least next week in this active pattern. -Jeff
