KOLO-TV Detailed Forecast

*Red Flag Warning in effect for western Nevada Friday from 2 to 9 PM. Gusty wind in combination with low relative humidity will create critical fire weather danger at times during this period.

*Blowing Dust Advisory in effect for the Basin and Range (Including the Black Rock Desert) Friday from 2 to 9 PM. Wind-driven dust and debris will be likely, reducing visibility and air quality at times.

*Lake Wind Advisory area-wide, including Pyramid Lake and Lake Tahoe Friday from 2 to 9 PM. Choppy conditions can be expected on the water, with swells of 1 to 3' likely.

Breezy weather will continue through Saturday, as a trough of low pressure digs into the Western U.S. The combination of dry conditions, dry air, and wind, will push fire danger to critical levels at times of Friday. Along with the wind, much cooler air is on the way, with a few showers possible Friday night and early Saturday. Valley highs will struggle to hit 70 to start the weekend. The low in Reno will drop into the 40s for the first time since early June, with a hard freeze likely in Sierra valleys. Sunday and Labor Day will be warmer, under mostly sunny skies. Enjoy the taste of autumn! -Jeff
