The Grove at South Creek invites you to attend the 2015 Wedding Trend Preview Thursday, September 4th at 5:30 p.m. Admission is free.

Guests will have an opportunity to discover elegantly designed vignettes by Quality Event Design. Receive advice regarding the latest trends. The panel of experts will include wedding planning, design, etiquette, food trends, beauty and photography.

Upon arrival, the first 250 guests who pre-register will receive a numbered jewelry box courtesy of BVW Jeweler. In one of these jewelry boxes there will be a genuine diamond necklace. After the panel discussion, the number of the box containing the genuine diamond will be announced.

Art Walk Reno is expanding its footprint!

The Art BLAST exhibit that is on display at the McKinley Arts & Culture Center, will be part of the Art Walk on Thursday, Sept. 4. Art Indeed! Sierra Memorial Art Space, a new gallery featuring abstract art at 142 Bell St., is also part of the walk through the Reno Arts District.

Stroll along the Truckee and throughout the downtown Arts District, where you can view the works of 17 local and regional artists.

The walk officially begins at 5 p.m. at Liberty Fine Art Gallery, 100 West Liberty Street. There, you can purchase a ticket, for $10, which includes a glass, raffle ticket and program for the evening. Or purchase a limited-edition hand-painted glass by this month’s featured artist, Michelle Nelsen, for $15.

The event ends with a raffle drawing at ArtSpace gallery in West Street Market. Prizes include a $200.00 voucher good towards any piece of art shown on the walk.

A portion of this month’s proceeds will benefit Bruka Theater of the Sierra, a non-profit performance art space located in downtown Reno..

Rush to Reno: Millionaires in the One Sound State

Forget Las Vegas -- In the 1930s Nevada's claim to fame was its taxes... or lack thereof! This summer, the Wilbur D. May Museum will highlight one of the state's first marketing campaigns in a brand new exhibit. Rush to Reno: Millionaires in the One Sound State explores the way state leaders used taxes to target millionaires to move to Nevada during the 1930s and 40s. The unconventional plan brought dozens of colorful characters to the Reno area, including Wilbur May, E. L. Cord, Max Fleischmann, and others. The new exhibit features many original artifacts on display for the first time, including One Sound State pamphlets and ephemera, photographs, music, videos, and more.

Rush to Reno opens June 18 and runs through September 14. Admission is $5.00 for adults, $3.50 for seniors and children. The exhibit is an official NV 150 event, celebrating the 150th anniversary of Nevada’s admission to the Union.
