Fall Harvest Festival

“Having a fun family day to kick off Fall showcases the park and gives families an opportunity to have fun and interact together,” said Ms. York. “We look forward to seeing lots of families coming out to enjoy this annual event.”
There will be music and demonstrations, exhibition booths, horse and carriage rides, and an adult cake walk hosted by Ms. York and Ms. Candy Greene that promises to bring laughs and good times for the grown-ups.
Kids will be busy climbing on hay bales, looking for a pumpkin, gold panning, jumping in the bounce houses and playing carnival games. Face painters will be on hand to create masterpieces on the little ones’ faces.
Several food trucks from the local area will be serving up their special creations. There will be drinks, popcorn, cotton candy and a cupcake bar too.

Visit RenoInitiative.org to sign up to volunteer for RISE and Dine! RISE and Dine is a hands-on giving project that mirrors the true spirit of Reno. Three Saturdays a month, our team invites volunteers throughout the community to cook their favorite recipes and together we serve dinner and distribute clothing to hundreds of locals without a home.
This Saturday at 5pm, we will meet outside of the Community Assistance Center (CAC) at 335 Record St. and serve about 250 or more people until 6pm. The event costs only as much as the food you bring and share! Don’t miss this great community potluck!
With the help of our supporters, RISE feeds thousands of Reno’s most poverty-stricken throughout the year. The RISE and Dine project is a truly special do-it-yourself experience that allows you to connect with people and families in need. By volunteering or donating, YOU are warmth and comfort to the men, women and children who go to bed hungry in Reno.

KTMB's Truckee River Cleanup Day is Sept. 27, 8:00 a.m. to noon. Activities will include picking up trash, removing invasive weeds and stenciling storm drains at various locations in Washoe County. A volunteer barbecue will follow the cleanup at Rock Park in Sparks.

Nevada Walk & 5K for Hemophilia

For the first time in its history, The Nevada Chapter of the National Hemophilia Foundation will host two Hemophilia Walks on the same day to help raise critical funds and awareness for those Nevadans affected by inherited bleeding and clotting disorders including Hemophilia and von Willebrand disease.
A one mile walk and 5K are scheduled in Las Vegas and Reno on September 27, 2014 with goals to raise at least $50,000 in each city. This will be the first ever Hemophilia Walk held in Reno.
