Must have good people skills on the phone and in person. Needs solid writing skills for broadcasting and online. Computer skills required, including use of email, ENPS and Microsoft Office. Update assignment files with news stories. Make calls to investigate story ideas. Make beat checks daily. Ability to listen to scanner traffic and hear potential breaking news stories. Organize assignment board daily, working with producers, reporters and management to keep story selection in line with the KOLO 8 News Now strategic plan. Ideal candidate has strong social media skills. You should be able to multi-task and work well under pressure.
Willing to reside within 30 minutes of station • Available for varying work schedules due to temporary or permanent schedule changes, or breaking news coverage (including weekends, overnights and out-of-town assignments). Salary based on experience.
