Reports to: Producers/Executive Producer, News Director The Part Time News Associate Producer / Web Producer has general responsibility for assisting line producers in assembling material for newscasts. Duties Include: • Writing or re-writing stories • Assisting in gathering information from crews in the field • Listening to scanners in newsroom for story possibilities • Making beat check and information calls to police and fire agencies • Handling viewer calls, routing them to appropriate news personnel • Assisting producers in preparing scripts and rundowns for news broadcasts • Rolling Tele-Prompter for newscasts • Updating station web site with local news and information Job Qualifications Include: • Ability to write clearly and concisely • Basic knowledge of journalism and the law • Understanding of basic newsroom operations v • Ability to communicate effectively with public and co-workers • Ability to operate ENG editing equipment, both non-linear and deck-to-deck • Ability to operate newsroom computer system • Completing a pre-employment drug test and random tests thereafter Physical Requirements Include: • Good or corrected vision and hearing • Ability to transport oneself to and from assignments • Ability to work under tight deadlines without losing composure. Work scheduling may vary because of the nature of the news process. Assignments may include weekend, night or out of town assignments.
