Eric has always had a close connection to sports. Football is his passion and is what eventually led him to Reno and to the journalism field. He was a High School quarterback in the Bay Area and had a brief stint at a Junior College in Saratoga. After a particular High School game he recalls talking to the cameraman and reporter that were out covering the game, and that led to an internship at KICU's High School Sports Focus.
Although TV interested him, he still wanted to pursue football. He made a trip up to the University Of Nevada to meet with some recruiters about playing for the Pack. Unfortunately there wasn't much call for a 5 foot 8 freshman quarterback at Nevada, so he settled on Junior College. The visit to Nevada also introduced him to the Journalism School at Nevada.
Eric got his first job as a producer at KOLO while he was still in school and that led to some fill-in time on the sports desk. He moved onto KCRA in Sacramento as a news and sports producer, but eventually returned to Reno and to KOLO.
Eric is originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania so of course he's a die-hard Steelers, Penguins , and Pirates fan.
Eric is happily married to his wife Malia. They have no kids, but their dogs Simba and Lily and their kitten Nalla take up all of their time.
