University of Nevada baseball coach Gary Powers announced Tuesday that Tyler Davis has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Wolf Pack in 2014. Davis is currently a senior at Porterville (Calif.) High School.

Fain Named To NCBWA Mid-Season Stopper Of The Year Watch List

University of Nevada freshman closer Michael Fain is one of 51 players named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Stopper of the Year Award mid-season watch list. The ninth annual award is given to the top relief pitcher in NCAA I baseball.

ESPN To Televise Nevada-San Diego State

The Nevada football team will play at least one time on ESPN this season as the Wolf Pack’s game at San Diego State on Oct. 4 will be televised nationally at 6 p.m. by the network, the Mountain West announced Tuesday. The announcement was the first in a series of television releases by the league with television info and kickoff times for other games to be announced in the coming weeks.

The University of Nevada softball team swept its first conference series since 2009 with a 10-1, six-inning drubbing of New Mexico on Sunday at Lobo Field in Albuquerque.

Mountain West leading New Mexico (24-16, 14-4 MW) scored eight runs in the top of the ninth to rally for a 15-11 victory over Nevada (19-20, 7-11 MW) to win all three games from the Wolf Pack this weekend. The Pack has lost a season-high four in a row for the second time this season.

Former Wolf Pack pitcher Eddie Bonine was released by the Arizona Diamondbacks on Saturday and signed to a minor league deal by the San Diego Padres. The Padres have assigned Bonine to Triple-A Tucson.

The University of Nevada (19-18, 7-9 MW) baseball team lost the first game of three-game Mountain West series to conference leading New Mexico (22-16, 12-4 MW) by a score of 5-2 at Peccole Park tonight. The loss dropped the Wolf Pack to 19-18 overall and 7-9 in MW play. The Lobos improved to 22-16 and 12-4 in conference action.

Nevada won 7-6 on Friday and the series is tied at a game apiece with one remaining tomorrow. The Wolf Pack is now 18-16 on the season and 6-8 in the Mountain West while the Rebels are 23-11 and 8-6 in conference play.

Pack Walks Off With a Win Against CSU

The University of Nevada softball team got an eighth-inning, walk-off RBI single from Karley Hopkins on Saturday, beating the Colorado State Rams 4-3 at Hixson Park in a Mountain West tilt.
