In 2013, Chase Tenpenny had arguably the best season a Nevada punter has ever had, resulting in a contract with the San Diego Chargers. This year, the tough task of replacing Tenpenny belongs to sophomore Alex Boy.

"There's always pressure, especially seeing him do so well in his career here," said Boy. "I mean he averaged like 42 (yards per punt) his whole career - that's a great average. And last year 45.4 (yards per punt), so it'll be a little bit of pressure, but I'm excited."

"Alex is immensely talented," said head coach Brian Polian. "He really has a very live leg. We've just got to get him settled down. I think he's a little jumpy right now... But we've got plenty of time, and he has gotten better in the last couple of days so I'm excited about his progress."

Boy and Tenpenny have a very close relationship, and Boy appreciates the opportunity he got last season to learn from one of the best.

"Even though we've only known each other for a year, we kind of feel like brothers I feel like in a sense," said Boy. "It was really easy getting to know him as a person, and obviously the things he did, it was nice knowing that it's possible."

"I think it's a big deal," said Polian. "I think watching how Chase would prepare and how he would get himself ready for a game, and how he drilled and worked on technique, I think that's a big deal."

Typically, punter isn't a position that gets a whole lot of attention, but Tenpenny proved last season that if you perform well enough, you'll get noticed.

"It's nice seeing that he finally gets the glory that he deserves because he's an amazing punter," said Boy. "I remember watching him the first time - I had never heard of him, and then once he got here I was like, 'Oh, he might be the real deal.'"

Pack fans certainly hope that Boy is the real deal as well.
