Public Invited to Vote on New UNR Mascot's Name

The names voters can choose from:  

-Ellie (named for the first location of the University of Nevada in Elko)

-Frankie Sue (named for the first female student body president)

-Luna (named for the Wolf Pack howling at the moon)

-Mackie (named for the University's largest and earliest donor)

-Sage (named for original Wolf Pack mascot and state flower)

-Sierra (named for Sierra Mountain Range)

RENO, NV - The University of Nevada, Reno cheer team and the Associated Student of the University of Nevada invite the public to choose the name of their new female mascot.

Individuals can vote in the online poll with an active e-mail address.

Voters may choose one name from the list of six. The six names hold some significance to the University or state of Nevada, according to an official with UNR.

The voting period will be open from now until midnight on September 21, 2013. The result of the vote will be released during halftime of the University's home football game on September 28, 2013, according to an official with UNR.
