RENO, Nev. – The University of Nevada (2-13, 0-3 MW) volleyball team lost in four sets to #17 Colorado State (13-0, 4-0 MW) on Thursday night at the Virginia Street Gym. The Wolf Pack lost by scores of 25-22, 12-25, 25-17 and 15-25. The loss dropped the Pack to 2-13 on the season and 0-3 in Mountain West play. The Rams remained perfect winning for the 13th time without a loss and stand at 4-0 in conference action.
Pack sophomore Sam Willoughby finished the night with a match and career-high 15 kills. Freshman Madison Morell added 11 kills and senior Grace Anxo 10. Freshman setter Lyndsey Anderson earned the start tonight playing in her first match of the season and dished out 36 assists. Sophomore libero Kara Kasser led the team with nine digs.
CSU had four players record double figure kills led by Marlee Reynolds 13. Michelle Lawrence (12), Adrianna Culbert (10) and Samantha Peters (10) also were in double digits. Setter Deedra Foss had a match-high 44 assists and Jaime Colaizzi 12 digs.
The Rams jumped to an 11-4 advantage in the first set but Nevada closed within two at 24-22 but CSU scored the final point to win 25-22. In set two CSU led from the start to take the set 25-12 and a 2-0 advantage in the match.
After the break the Pack took the third set 25-17. With the set tied at 10 Nevada outscored the Rams 15-7 to close within a set at 2-1. The final set was tied at nine but a 16-6 CSU run gave the Rams the 25-15 set victory and 3-1 match win.
CSU hit .377 in the match compared to .180 for the Pack. The Rams totaled 12 blocks and Nevada six.
