RENO, Nev. – The University of Nevada cross country team was picked to finish seventh out of 11 teams in the Mountain West this season, as determined by a vote of the league’s head coaches.
The Wolf Pack earned 47 points, while defending conference champion New Mexico received 10 first-place points and was picked to repeat with 100 total points. Boise State garnered 85 points to edge out Colorado State, who received one first-place vote and earned 83 points, for second place in the poll. With 72 points, Air Force claims fourth place, followed by Utah State (63 points), Wyoming (57 points), Nevada (47 points), Fresno State (37 points), UNLV (23 points), San Diego State (20 points) and San José State (18 points).
Nevada ended the 2012 season with a fifth place finish at the Mountain West Cross Country Championships. The Wolf Pack opens the 2013 season on Aug. 30, as the team will host its annual Nevada Chase Race at Rancho San Rafael Park.
The 2013 Mountain West Cross Country Championships will be hosted by the Air Force Academy at the Eisenhower Blue Course on Friday, Nov. 1.
