UNLV scored the first five runs of the game and never looked back in defeating Nevada 15-1 in the final home game of the season for the Wolf Pack. The Rebels won all three games of the weekend Mountain West series at Peccole Park.
Nevada stands at 24-27 and 11-16 in the MW while the Rebels improved to 34-17 and 16-11 in the conference.
UNLV scored runs in five innings including a seven-run top of the eighth. The Pack’s lone run came in the bottom of the fourth when Hugo Hernandez doubled and scored on a Brett Jones RBI single.
Tom Jameson (1-7) suffered the loss allowing seven runs, six earned in 4.1 innings on the mound. UNLV starter John Richy (6-4) pitched eight innings giving up one run on six hits to record his fifth win of the season.
Hernandez and Jones had two hits apiece to top the Pack. Eight UNLV batters had multiple hits in the game led by Mark Shannon and Justin Jones who had three each.
Nevada closes out the regular season with a three-game MW series at Fresno State starting Thursday night at 6:35 p.m.
