The University of Nevada softball team earned its 10th win of 2013 on Friday morning, beating Northern Illinois 8-3 to open play at the Mustang Classic.
Nevada improved to 10-11 with the victory, while Northern Illinois dropped to 6-8.
Sara Parsons led the way at the plate, while Karlyn Jones pitched her fifth complete game of the season to get the win.
Parsons was 3-for-3 with the RBI, smashing two doubles and a single in the Nevada win. The Wolf Pack’s nine hits came from six different players, with Ashley Butera as the only other player to record a multi-hit game. She had two singles and a RBI.
Jones struck out eight Huskies and improved to 6-4 on the year, giving up only three hits in seven innings. Around the plate all morning, Jones kept the strikes coming to beat Northern Illinois and put Nevada in line to get back to .500 against Sacramento State tonight.
The Pack will meet the Hornets at 7 p.m.
