RENO, Nev. – Nevada softball senior Karlyn Jones is this week’s Mountain West Pitcher of the Week and received recognition from College Sports Madness as the MW Player of the Week.
Jones turned in two masterful pitching performances during a weekend sweep at Utah State. Getting the start in game one, Jones threw all seven innings and surrendered just one earned run, helping the Wolf Pack earn a 7-1 victory. She tossed eight strikeouts in the game, tying what was her season-high at the time.
Jones produced an even more impressive outing on Sunday, tossing a four-hit, complete game shutout of the Aggies. She fanned a Nevada career-high 11 batters and recorded the first seven USU outs as strikeouts. For the weekend, Jones threw 14.0 innings of work, compiled a 0.50 ERA and racked up 19 K’s, while not issuing a single walk.
Nevada hosts Fresno State this weekend for the final home stand of the season, beginning this Thursday, May 8 at 4 p.m. The team will honor the six Wolf Pack seniors prior to the final game of the season this Saturday.
