Davis Signs with Nevada

University of Nevada baseball coach Gary Powers announced Tuesday that Tyler Davis has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Wolf Pack in 2014. Davis is currently a senior at Porterville (Calif.) High School.

“We are excited to have Tyler in our program,” Powers said. “He comes from a family of athletes who have all excelled in their sports. Tyler understands the game and uses his abilities and knowledge of the game like you should. He is a very good and serious student as well.”

Davis pitches and plays shortstop for the PHS Panthers. He earned four letters in baseball and two in basketball as a prep athlete. During his sophomore and junior seasons, he earned first-team All-East Yosemite League and All-Orange Belt honors. Following his junior season he was named to the All-Tulare County baseball team. On the mound he boasts a career mark of 11-1 as a varsity pitcher. He also played two years with the Central Valley Marlins scout team.

A four-year scholar athlete he has maintained a 3.5 GPA and will received the Golden State Seal Merit Diploma at graduation.

He is the son of Bret and Lisa Davis. His father played at New Mexico and professionaly in the Seattle Mariners organization while his mother played collegiate volleyball. Tyler’s sister Tori is an all-conference volleyball player at Porterville Community College.
