RENO, Nev. - On a day filled with candid discussion and the hiring of a new defensive coordinator, Nevada head coach Chris Ault was at the center of a no-holds barred press conference.

Ault repeatedly criticized his defense; took responsibility for an embarrassing bowl loss; and said he wanted to punch leading rusher Vai Taua "right in the mouth" for failing to meet academic requirements.

However, the Wolf Pack coach said Taua will return for his senior season and the school will deal with the problem in house. Freshman safety Duke Williams, who was sent home from the Hawai'i Bowl will also return next season.

Ault also announced third string quarterback Luke Collis will transfer to a Division II school in hopes of getting more playing time.

The introduction of new defensive coordinator Andy Buh practically became a sidebar to a morning filled with revealing statements from both Ault and athletic director Cary Groth.
