Nevada Soccer Beats Sacramento State


RENO, Nev. – Junior Jill Erickson scored her second game-winning goal in as many games and Ellie Stott added her first of the year as the University of Nevada soccer team beat Sacramento State 2-0 Sunday afternoon at Mackay Stadium.

With the win Nevada improved to 2-5 on the year while Sacramento State fell to 3-1-2.

Erickson scored the game-winner in the 81st minute as she scored on a left-footed direct kick from 35-yards out.

Stott added an insurance goal for the Pack in the 87th minute as she headed in Keshia Broom’s free kick at the back post. The assist was Broom’s second assist of the weekend.

Freshman goalkeeper Dana Moreno, who was making her second career start, posted her second career shutout and recorded two saves in the win. Sacramento State goalkeeper Savannah Abercrombie made one save for the Hornets.

Nevada outshot Sacramento State 8-5 in the match including a 3-2 advantage in shots on goal. Raylene Larot, Natalie Ratnavira and Stott each recorded a team-high two shots for Nevada.

Nevada will play its next four matches on the road starting with two games in the Minnesota Gold Classic. The Pack will take on host #19 Minnesota at 5 p.m. PT on Friday and will face North Dakota on Sunday at 8:30 a.m. PT.
