DENVER, Colo. — The University of Nevada had 55 student-athletes named to the 2009 Western Athletic Conference All-Academic Team for spring sports and freshmen/transfers, the conference announced Wednesday.
To be eligible, a student-athlete have at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average and have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's contests. Student-athletes for the spring sports team must have completed at least one year at their institution, while the freshmen/transfers team honors student-athletes in their first year at the school.
The 55 spring sport and freshmen/transfer honorees wrap up a successful academic year for the University of Nevada. A total of 98 Wolf Pack student-athletes earned WAC All-Academic honors for the 2008-09 season, while 73 student-athletes earned their degrees during the 2008-09 academic year.
Nevada’s Graduation Success Rate is at 70 percent, the highest mark in school history, while the university also saw all 17 of its teams turn in Academic Progress Rate scores at or above the 925 standard and received no penalties for the fifth consecutive year.
