Church Set To Return To Mets On Sunday

Ryan Church will likely return to the New York Mets' roster on Sunday, according to MLB.com.

The former Pack star might find himself in a bit of competition for his the starting job in right field.

The report on MLB.com says Mets skipper Jerry Manuel has been impressed with prospect Fernando Martinez, who has been filling in. Manuel said on Wednesday he will give Martinez every opportunity to win a regular job in the Mets outfield. If necessary, even at the expense of the team's corner outfielders.

Martinez is hitting .222 with four RBIs in eight games.

Church hit .272 with eight RBIs in in 39 games. The Nevada alum went on the disabled list on May 26 with a sore right hamstring.
