Mark McLaughlin has asked the University of Nevada to release him from his letter-of-intent.
McLaughlin signed with Nevada back in 2007, but academic issues forced him to play last season at a prep school in New Hampshire.
He was expected to play for the Wolf Pack beginning next season. But the loss of Mark Fox to Georgia has changed his mind.
Nevada Athletic Director Cary Groth will meet with new head coach David Carter today to decide if they will release McLaughlin from his letter-of-intent. If they decline, McLaughlin will have to sit out a year to transfer.
McLaughlin was a top 100 recruit coming out of high school his senior year. He originally gave a verbal commitment to attend Washington State University.
