The Nevada softball team dropped its fifth straight on Sunday with a 6-4 loss to UC Santa Barbara in the final game of the Cathedral City Classic.
Nevada had 10 hits in the game but committed two errors and gave up nine hits to the Gauchos.
Noelle Micka stayed hot and went 2-for-4 with a run while Sam Bias and Michelle Beach each had two hits for the Pack
Mallary Darby went the distance and struck out three but took the loss and she fell to 3-3.
The Gauchos got on the board first with a pair of runs in the first inning and then made it 3-0 with a run in the top of the third inning.
The Wolf Pack got things going offensively with a run in the bottom of the third as Sam Bias knocked an RBI single that score Brittany Puzey, who had singled.
After UCSB made it 4-1 with a run in the fifth, Nevada tied it up in the bottom of the fifth. The Wolf Pack loaded the bases with nobody out and then scored three runs on a ground out by Kelsey Starr, a sacrifice fly by Bias and an RBI single by Sarah Hunt.
But UCSB took the lead right back in the sixth with two more run – one earned – off Darby.
Nevada will open up the home portion of the schedule with a doubleheader Tuesday against Sac State. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m.
