UTEP Beats Nevada Rifle Team

In its final home match of the season, the University of Nevada rifle team were down by the University of Texas at El Paso 4592-4509.

The match began Saturday with the teams shooting small bore and the match concluded on Sunday shooting air rifle.

In the small bore, senior Andrew Hickey shot a 575 to take first place. UTEP newcomer Alix Moncada led UTEP in small bore with a shot 570 and took the overall win in air rifle with a shot of 587. Sophomore Jessica Klatt led the Wolf Pack in air rifle with a 585, followed by Hickey with a 585.

Junior Leah Taboada shot small bore for the first time this season, shooting a 556. Taboada also shot a 583 in air rifle. Freshman Dempster Christenson shot a 569 in small bore and a 575 in air rifle while junior Heather Horn shot a 557 in small bore.

The fifth and final meeting between the two schools will be on Feb. 14 at El Paso, Texas. The match will be a qualifier for the NCAA Championships.
