San Jose, Calif. – The University of Nevada (25-26, 10-10 WAC) baseball team lost a close 3-2 decision in the first game of a four-game Western Athletic Conference series at Municipal Stadium in San Jose, Calif. tonight. The loss drops the Wolf Pack to 25-26 on the season and 10-10 in WAC play while the conference leading Spartans improved to 36-18 and 12-7 in conference play. The Pack will need to win the final three games of the series to have any chance of overtaking the Spartans for the WAC regular season title.
The Joshua L. Anderson Memorial Foundation has awarded college scholarships to ten Northern Nevada high school graduates who were outstanding high school baseball or softball players while achieving academic excellence and maintaining a high level of community and school activities. Each award is a $2,500 scholarship.
The University of Nevada track & field team racked up 57.5 points in the third day of the 2009 WAC Outdoor Championships to take the top spot in the eight team field as the meet enters the final day of competition. Nevada started the day in third with five points after the multi-event heptathlon concluded Thursday.
