SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - The Giants' Halloween treat for their faithful fans has gotten underway in downtown San Francisco.

Tens of thousands of people dressed in the team's orange and black colors cheered as players, managers and coaches waved from atop individual convertibles to kick off a ticker-tape parade for the 2012 World Series champions.

The parade route will cover about 1 1/2 miles, from the foot of the city's main commercial street to City Hall, where the team will address a crowd that camped overnight to snag a prime viewing spot.

Standing next to the gold Rolls Royce that would be his ride, Giants manager Bruce Bochy credited the team's fans with helping to lift San Francisco to its second World Series victory in three years.
