Wolf Pack Sweep Swimming & Diving Honors

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Nevada senior Mengjiao Mi and junior Grace Huang have earned Mountain West Women's Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week honors, respectively, for meets contested from Oct. 24-30, 2012. It is the first Mountain West career honor for both student-athletes.

Mi, a native of Beijing, China, recorded first-place finishes in five individual events in the Wolf Pack's dual meets vs. MW foe Fresno State and non-conference opponents Pacific and Fresno Pacific. On Friday, Oct. 26, against the Tigers, the senior clocked respective times of 52.64 and 5:10.17 in the 100-yard and 500-yard freestyle to claim first in both events, while adding a second-place finish in the 200 free (1:51.36). She also anchored Nevada's 400-yard medley relay that took second in 3:58.43. Mi followed suit on Saturday, Oct. 27, by sweeping the sprint freestyle events in a double-dual meet vs. Fresno State and Fresno Pacific. She paced the field in the 100 free with a time of 52.23, which ranks fifth in the Conference this season, and followed with winning marks in the 200 free (1:52.63) and 500 free (5:06.85). Mi capped the week by swimming the final leg in the Wolf Pack's first-place 400-yard freestyle relay (3:29.88), as Nevada defeated the Bulldogs, 154-141, and downed the Sunbirds, 154-80.

Huang, who hails from Kaohsiun City, Taiwan, posted NCAA zone-qualifying scores in both springboard events at the Wolf Pack's double-dual meet in Fresno, Calif. The junior, who placed second on the 1-meter springboard after tallying 289.50 points, captured a first-place finish on the 3-meter board with a mark of 321.00.
