RENO, Nev. – University of Nevada head men’s basketball coach David Carter has announced that Stylianos Papafloratos-Diuitsantos will play for the Wolf Pack this season. The 6-4 guard comes to Nevada from Athens, Greece.
“I’m excited to add a quality player at this late date and just before school is about to get underway,” Carter said. “He concludes our recruiting for this season and gives us a guard who can play either backcourt position.”
Papafloratos lettered four years at ACS Athens for coach Annie Constantinides. The combination guard averaged 13.5 points and five assists in four seasons at ACS Athens. He earned honor roll awards his last three seasons and the Coaches Award the last two years. In 2009, 2011 and 2012 he helped ACS to the ISST Championship and a third place finish in 2010. The 2012 graduate played last season at Redemption Christian Academy, a prep school in Northfield, Mass.
Papafloratos was selected to the national Greek under 18 and 16 teams. While playing for the Maroussi basketball club he helped the team finish second in the Greek Championship. He scored 25 points and made four three-pointers in the title game. In club basketball he averaged 15 points, 4.5 assists and four rebounds.
